A Valentine's Schmalentine's Day Giveaway

I was going to let Valentine's Day pass this year, but then I felt inspired to do a little Valentine's Schmalentine's Day giveaway. But wait, let me start from the beginning. I've never made it a secret that I'm not big on Valentine's Day. I mean, it's kind of fun, but it really is a pretty dumb holiday. And I feel super lucky that I married someone who feels the same way.

Case in point -- our conversation about what we want to do for Valentine's Day this year. It went something like this:

Me: Valentine's Day is coming up. Should we do something?

Mr. T: Oh yeah. Should we?

Me: I don't know should we?

Mr. T: I mean, it seems kind of pointless. Right?

Me: That's what I was thinking. So should We?

Mr. T: ….

Me: ….

I don't think we actually got anywhere in that convo. Other than figuring out neither of us is sure if we should do something and I don't think either of us really cares.

Don't get me wrong. We have celebrated. Our first Vday was pretty special. It involved a bucket of beers and a restaurant that served a whole bowl of pickles. Then there was one where I bought Mr. T all of the cookbooks (that would later inspire Cookies with Mr. T). And we made gifts once too (I made this one). We just really don't make a big deal about it. We generally prefer to spend the money and time on other things and other holidays.

So it's really not a surprise that I wasn't feeling the need to really bother much with Valentine's Day this year. And that kind of extended to my shop as well. I felt a little bad, but let's all be honest, things have been a little crazy lately. We lived in a dorm for two weeks, got into a car accident, had all of our stuff in storage, and moved into a new house.

There's a point to all of my babbling. I swear.

I was just going to move on past the holiday until last week when I was having fun with my new Sizzix machine. I thought of so many fun things I could make. Things that were my style. A little Valentine's Day Schmalentine's Day fun.

At first I was just going to make a few things for our home. Because my ideas were too fun (in my humble opinion) to go to waste. And I didn't want to wait a whole year to see them come to life. But then, as I was making things, I realized how much I really loved where things were going and really wanted to post it on my shop. The only issue? It was likely too late.

By the time I took pictures, wrote descriptions, and so on, there wouldn't really be enough time for people to actually order it before Valentine's Day. And, well, that's not cool is it?

So I decided that my mistake should totally be your gain. And I'm going to give away the garlands that I made to two lucky readers. Before either of them are even listed on my shop site or Etsy.

It's a Valentine's Day Schmalentine's Day giveaway, you guys!

Here are the details of the garlands:

Stupid Cupid - handmade by yours truly with red card stock. The letters are about four inches in size.

Please note only the Stupid Cupid garland is up for grabs. The other stuff in the picture isn't.
