Happy Friday everyone! Another week in 2016 is down. I cannot believe how fast this year is going. Seriously. How did everyone do this week? I'm sure you heard that my week was a little crazy. But, I'm embracing all of the changes that this week brought. I get a fresh start and I'm pretty damn excited about that (we all need that sometimes, am I right?!?).
Anyway. This weekend is filled with stuff too. Tonight Mr. T and I are going to dinner at one of his professor coworker's house (that's totally a thing and totally makes sense, right?). I'm super nervous because this is really the first time that I've been in this kind of situation. All of Mr. T's coworkers in NYC were grad students so it didn't seem as official. So asdie from silly things like what do I wear and how do I wear my hair, I also get afraid of "fitting in". I'm not in academia and talking about myself makes me incredibly nervous. I don't know how to explain what I do for a living - I make pretty things. I write a blog. I cook and clean and take care of our home. And I'm a dog mom. Not having a traditional job was so much easier in NYC. But I'm just going to go with it and rock it tonight. I am who I am and I should be proud of it. (Can I get an Amen?)
Tomorrow we're working on sprucing up our yard. That's kind of amazing because we actually have a yard to work in. And the yard is so pretty. I also bought some more pretty flowers to add to it.
Anyway, let's get to the things that made me happy this week.
I've never really cared about nice weather, but that's because I've never had a room like this or a yard like this to enjoy it in. I'll probably always hate summer, but I'm so excited to be able to sit in the yard or our three seasons room with a beer or cocktail or tea or coffee or sans beverage. I just want to sit out there! And this picture just gives me warm fuzzies. Apparently Brooklyn is excited about it as well. She made a little spot with some pillows so she could look out the window.
I was actually just thinking about how the warm weather made me miss Brooklyn. But then I realized that I never really enjoyed it there. Because I had to put pants on and leave my apartment. Now I can sit in my underwear in my yard with a cup of coffee and just enough the pretty weather.
Technically this was Sunday, but it counts. Sometimes you just all have to snuggle in bed on a Sunday afternoon. And if you disagree, I'd strongly encourage you to try it again or would suggest you haven't actually done it. It's the best. I'm pretty sure almost every Happy Friday post is going to include snuggles of some kind. And I'm totally OK with that.
My New Planner
Yep, this is totally the 994 planner that I've bought so I might have some sort of problem. I swear I think I spent more on planners this year than I did on rent when we lived in Brooklyn. But I truly believe this planner from Erin Condren is going to perfectly perfect for me. And there's stickers, you guys! Before this I had the Simplified Planner by Emily Ley. I loved it, but I like to see me week at a glance because I find it works so much better for scheduling things and feeling accomplished. And before that I had the planner from Ban.Do. I loved it and thought it was pretty, but I found it wasn't functional enough for me. The planner from Erin Condren has boxes for each day so I can compartmentalize my life - it works so well for me. It also have all kinds of inspirational things inside it that just make me happy.
