Go to Black Iron Burger
Last weekend Mr. T and I went out for a friend's birthday and we finally had a chance to visit Black Iron Burger.
Black Iron Burger holds a special little place in my heart. Not only do I love burgers and have continually listened to Mr. T talk about how good these burgers are for the past two a half years, but it's actually a place we tried to go to on our first date (see, literally two and a half years).
After one too many beers and a glass of scotch that I couldn’t finish for fear of throwing up, Mr. T (before he was actually Mr. T) suggested we grab a bite (I had to or I wouldn’t have made it home pleasantly). He raved about Black Iron Burger which was a few blocks from the bar we were at. We called to make sure they were open and their automated machine said they were. However, once we made the walk there we found they had just closed up shop (damn you NYC restaurants for closing early because you’re not busy). We ended up grabbing a crappy slice of pizza and watching Jimmy Falon.
It was a fun way to end the date and made for a great story, but we vowed to make it back there so I could have a burger (way to snag a second date Mr. T) . And once things got serious and turned to marriage, we still said we’d go.
And last weekend we did and I must say, it's one of the better burgers I’ve had in NYC. Maybe even in my life.
I had the Masterpiece, well done. Stop cursing at me, I can't stand red meat.
We also had the Cajun fries and onion rings. The spice on the fries was magnificent.
Our friend had a malt which I was able to have a tiny bite of since he let me eat the sprinkles off of it. Sounds weird, but apparently the guy doesn’t like sprinkles (equally weird. Who doesn’t like sprinkles??) What I tasted was damn awesome.
Oh, and we of course had some beers.
So, if you're in the area (they actually have three different locations), definitely go to Black Iron Burger. And if you're not, do yourself a favor and make the trip.
