Welcome to Chaotic & Collected – a lifestyle blog about things. Many things. Fun things. Life things.

And before you think, holy s#@t not another lifestyle blog where I will learn how to make a sweater out of cotton balls and used egg cartons let me tell you that it’s not my goal to be that kind of lifestyle blog. I mean, if I figure out how to make a sweater out of cotton balls and egg cartons I will totally share that info. In fact, I will patent the crap out of that.

Update in 2017: I still have no idea how to make that freaking sweater out of cotton balls.

What you will find here: DIY & craft projects, tips, and ideas; recipes and yummy things you should make in the kitchen; things about being a budding vegetarian; tips and ideas for wedding planning; random thoughts; advice about life, love, and relationships; moments where I have no idea what the hell I'm doing over here;  products and things I’m obsessing over. And anything else I feel is blog worthy.

You'll also find my healthy life journal. A project that I started in 2016 when I decided to make a huge life change. You can find all of the details about what led to my decision in this post over here.

What you won't find here: fluff, negativity, or any post about something that I don't genuinely believe in.

My hope with this blog is to inspire people to make things, cook things, and be the best and most awesomest person they can be. You don't have to be a whiz in the kitchen to make tasty food (I used to hate to cook). You don't have to know exactly what you're doing to make an awesome DIY project. And you sure as hell don't need to know what you're doing in life to be happy.

If you want to know how it all started, keep reading. I thought about deleting this out of the bio because, well, It's long. But I like this story and feel it's worth sharing.

I started this blog after being a pretty cool dating blogger for several years. I met a guy in September 2012. Then, one day in 2013, while sipping sorel and Googling mustache stirrers, we decided to get married. He officially proposed a few days later and I was a single gal no more.

I tried to stick with the dating thing for a bit and mixed in some relationship stuff. But, honestly, it was hard. Here I was an almost married lady amongst a sea of bloggers spending Saturday nights out and about mixing and mingling. I just wanted to wear leggings as pants while watching sci-fi movies about weird creatures and drinking vodka from an over sized plastic cup (while also cuddling up with my dude of course).

I didn’t want to give up the blog, I still wanted a place where I could share my thoughts and ideas and all the new things that were inspiring me.

At first the whole lifestyle blogger thing scared me. I’ve never been overly domestic. I hate baking and Pinterest was the place where I found tasty and pretty things that I would never actually do. I’ve always been a fan of crafts, but I had unintentionally pushed that aside.

But after DIYing the heck out of my wedding my love for making things was revived. Pinterest started being the place I went to in order to find ideas for a new project and to find recipes to cook new things. I started meal planning, organizing, and doing all kinds of domestic things. And I found I actually kinda (really) like it. I still hate baking though.

So after a couple of failed attempts and some name changes, Chaotic & Collected was born. It describes life perfectly - sometimes it's calm and other times you just want to crawl under the covers and cry.
